I am dumbfounded: A footballers' strike? Really?

I didn't think it would be even possible, but French did it. This explains why, but I still cannot understand how over-paid players, having the honour to represent their nation at the World Cup can start a strike (even if we speak about French)!

Do you think this kind of environment and behaviour could be seen with the English team (Their results are not better than French ones and the atmosphere within the team and between the coach and his selection don't seem that good)?
