US getting closer to dream of playing in 2010 World Cup

Global fans of the US soccer team had reasons to smile these days.
The United States soccer team is on the verge of getting the chance to play in the World Cup soccer for the six straight times in 2010.
The US beat Trinidad and Tobago 1-0 Wednesday to move within a win of qualifying for next year's World Cup.
Ricardo Clark played hero for the US soccer tea, as he scored the lone goal for the team and for the game in the 62nd minute of the game.
Clark expressed joy over their win saying that what the team is looking for especially that the competition to get a berth in next year's World Cup is very tough.
The road to get the chance to play in the World Cup had been rough for the US as it loses its first three road qualifiers this year and even ha a bad first half in the game before Clark made his winning goal.
The US could get their berth to play in next year's Soccer World Cup 2010 if they can defeat Honduras on October 10 or if they lose get if if they win against the Costa Rica soccer team four days later at home in Washington, D.C..
Based on the rules of the World Cup qualifying tournament the top three teams qualify for the World Cup and the No. 4 nation goes to a playoff against the fifth-place team in South
America.
The 2010 FIFA World Cup will be the 19th FIFA World Cup, an international tournament for football that is scheduled to take place between 11 June and 11 July 2010 in South Africa.
It will be the first time that the tournament has been hosted by an African nation.
Italy is the defending champions, although they do not automatically qualify for the final tournament.
The draw for the finals will take place on 4 December 2009 in Cape Town.

In Brad Guzan I'd say the US have one of the brightest prospects in young keepers around at the moment. Seen him a few times for Villa in Carling and Uefa Cups last season and he always impressed with good handling, confidence at claiming crosses and allround shotstopping. Can see why he was Major League player of the season a couple of years ago!

Since the USA were unceremoniously dumped out of the World Cup, it seems that everybody, including those of us here at blog, have been avoiding even mentioning the topic of Team USA and just the World Cup in general.
