Crestfallen
I received an email today from NetResult, A Division of Projector NetResult Ltd on behalf of Football Data Co Limited which is the appointed licensee of the FA Premier League, the Football League, the Scottish Premier League and the Scottish Football League (”the Leagues”) in respect of the licensing of certain intellectual property rights of the Leagues, including UK Club Crests, for use by third parties.
This email has instructed me that all such unauthorised use of football crests must cease immediately including those used by members as avatars. I then have to reply to them to acknowledge the removal of the crests. After spending the best part of the day changing the site code to remove these images I’m not sure I’ll have time or the energy to send them a reply.
I think this is just another kick it the face to football fans by the ever more wealthy football clubs, only a couple of years ago they instructed me to remove the football fixtures from the site and now this, what will be next, an email requesting I remove any reference to football or that from now on I must replace the word football with soccer or face a copyright infringement.

That really stinks, I did her a rumour they are going to start charging a fiver to sing footy songs at games if it includes the club name and between £1 and £10 per person for player chants depending on the value of the player, only joking. I read on wiki that the money made by this company is shared out amounts the clubs with the highest amount going to the lowest league It also says they lost the right to charge for the fixture list in the European court so it does make you wonder if the clubs do get much from this or if they end up costing more than they make. It would be interesting to see figures that the clubs receive from them.
