La Masia the heart of Barca

Last season the Premiership stamped their mark on European football as the force to catch up to. Serie A and the Primera Division have both been surpassed and this was shown in the Champions League Final contested between Englands two biggest clubs, Chelsea and Manchester United. But one thing that the Premier league has not surpassed are the youth academies that the continental clubs have set up. Dutch football is renowned for producing exciting young talent and having a great infrastructure to produce and enhance this talent. But recently there is one youth academy that has been head and shoulders above the rest and that is Barcelona’s youth system in which La Masia is at the heart of the set up. (more…)

Jamie Carragher’s lack of Professionalism

He is a player that has over 500 appearances for his club and 34 for his country. Much has been said about his highly controversial comments in his recent autobiography. But let us not forget the other rumblings that have gone on over the players career, only last September Carragher was arrested and cautioned for assault outside a school near to his home. (more…)

All the talk with out the walk from Spurs

After spending in excess of 69million pounds Spurs have once again flattered to deceive with only one point in four games. In each of the games it is quite simple to see that the team is “soft” through the middle, they have many payers of a high technical ability but the problem with them is that they have no true high energy ball winning players. Transfer Valuations

It is always interesting to compare varied points of view especially when they are from different countries. The biggest issue at the moment in European football has to be the round up of the transfers window that has finished. When you look at the papers or the internet sites in the UK they state first and foremost the amount that has been paid by the club for the player or if undisclosed the estimated amount. But if you look at the German transfers the first statement that is issued is the length of the contract the player has signed. (more…)

Deadline Drama

Well by far and away the biggest news has to be the shock transfer of Robinho to Manchester City from Real Madrid for a record fee of £32.5-million. It really was a fairytale day for the City fans after the surprising news of there takeover by Abu Dhabi United Group for Development and Investment (ADUG), with the new owner Sulaiman al-Fahim targeting huge investment in the club to take them right to the top it is looking like exciting times for the City faithful. The amount suggested to be invested is huge with al-Fahim stating “I need to meet the manager but the best players in the world average £30-million. We need a minimum of 18 players at that level. Without that you can’t win the champions league”. (more…)
